ANGELS IN OUR MIDST

A GIFT AND READ OF THE WEEK

Angels In Our Midst, Anne Neilson

My mother believed in angels and with gentle hands, she wove their ethereal presence into the fiber of her children’s lives. ⁣

To me, they were beautiful, powerful guardians that watched over us, and a source I could draw upon for comfort and solace. ⁣

In fact, there was no Santa Claus in our home, my mother told us that if we drew close to God and prepared our hearts, the angels would bring a tree on Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Oh how I prayed. And faithfully, a magical tree illuminated with the silver angel wing dust arrived each eve of Christ’s birth. ⁣

And my love for angels grew. ⁣

I learned about Anne Neilson’s 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘐𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘴𝘵 book while visiting my friend, Katie this past summer. As I fingered through the pages of this beautifully illustrated and written piece of art, I felt the comfort of angels once again. It became the book I drew upon while tending my brother’s shedding life these past months. ⁣

The book was the invitation, the draw, the affirmation that I was surrounded by the presence of these beautiful heavenly spirits, and earthly angels as well. The angel of compassion of the hospice worker who visited weekly, never standing over my brother, but kneeling down before him as she met him eye-to-eye. Angel friends who texted me daily, one who walked to her church each morning to light a candle for us. My sweet sister who was strong in moments when I crumbled, and my sisters in Christ who lifted me up in prayer. Angels were in my midst everywhere. ⁣

I was with him when he passed; just he and I, and the little card upon his night stand, it’s angel presence woven into the fiber of her children’s lives. ⁣

PS - Anne’s new book: 𝘈𝘕𝘎𝘓𝘌𝘚: 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘙𝘦𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘩, 𝘌𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦 comes out next week. It would be the perfect gift for an angel in your life
