Fear is a natural survival instinct. It keeps us from things like running into traffic and provides that instinctual tightening that alerts you of possible harm. However, fear can also keep us from living the life we dream. There are three critical fears that trap us. We have them all - everyone of us!
Fear of failure
Fear of rejection
Fear of humiliation
How amazing would it be to wake up one morning without fear? To know what you would do first might reveal to you a desire that is trapped within you. And so I ask, what is keeping you from doing your hearts desire, expressing your passion, really connecting with someone, or making a better life choice?
While we cannot live without fear, we can live with courage. To live boldly you have to leave your comfort zone. You have to give up some comforts of safety and security. Mark Twain said, courage is resistance to fear, it’s mastery of fear, not the absence of fear. This is a profound truth as we will never be fearless. It's not about being fearless but becoming more courageous.
Yes, there is risk, sacrifice, and vulnerability in being courageous, but there is also opportunity, growth and surprise. The key is to know the fear, know your heart, and walk toward both.
